The Family First Safari Experience
Guests at safari lodge in the Balule Nature Reserve can relax and view the many animals that come to the riverside to drink. There is also a dam and various waterholes which attract game. There are no fences between the reserve and Kruger National Park and so opportunities to see Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard and Rhino are excellent on your Big Five safari.
The lodge has a lovely setting under giant fig trees on the edge of the Olifants River. Rolling lawns surround the large swimming pool and extend down to the water. Accommodation is provided in the Manor House with three luxury suites, and three one-roomed thatched chalets on the riverside.
Day 1: Johannesburg to Balule Nature Reserve
Your adventure experience to Balule has begun! You depart Johannesburg on a flight to Hoedspruit Airport. A representative will meet you off your flight and assist with the short road transfer to the lodge.
On arrival, you will be welcomed by the lodge staff and introduced to your three day programme. Your two nights and three day stay can be enjoyed spending quality family time together while experiencing the magic of the Africa Bush. It is is one of the oldest lodges in the area. It is surrounded by African savannah and Combretum bushveld with Acacia trees, Sweet Thorn, Leadwood and Marula trees.
Game viewing activity: Afternoon game drive.
Day 2: Safari Lodge in Balule Nature Reserve
At your safari lodge you can choose your level of activity. For a real bush experience, rise with the dawn to go on a game drive, experience a morning bush walk with a ranger, or lounge on the banks of the Olifants River with a good book and a pair of binoculars…the choice is yours. Most days in good weather, meals are served outdoors on the deck with atmospheric dinners around the camp fire in the boma (enclosure). There are a variety of family excursions available to surrounding attractions including a golf course and Blyde River canyon or guests can go hot air ballooning in magnificent scenery.

Day 3: Balule Nature Reserve to Johannesburg
This is the final day of your Family First Safari Package in the Balule Nature Reserve, South Africa.
After a final morning safari activity and breakfast it is time to leave your lodge. You will be transferred by road to Hoedspruit to connect with your flight to O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
