Game drives at Pondoro depart in the early mornings and late afternoons and traverse an area of 10 000 hectares. You can also book a private game drive, if you prefer. Off-road driving enables the best possible chance of animal sightings, but if you’d like to go even deeper into the bush (and want to channel your inner David Attenborough), join one of the expert-led bush walks.
All meals at Pondoro are served on a wooden deck, high up in the tree canopy overlooking the Olifants River, but should you decide to stay a third night, an unforgettable bush dinner awaits! After dinner, it’s a tradition to take a nightcap. Request a glass of something local or relax with a Cuban cigar and savour a dram of Port or Cognac, should that tickle your fancy.
Safari spa day? If that’s a yes, the Serenity Spa at Pondoro Game Lodge offers an indulgent escape here in the reserve. This is just the place to be in between safari activities, where you can kick off your shoes and simply unwind with a whole range of classic Southern African spa treatments.
Pondoro Game Lodge is also well-equipped as a private wedding destination and has also won more than a few travel awards for being one of the best honeymoon destinations on the continent. You can book the whole camp or have a secluded and romantic wildlife wedding all by yourselves. They can provide everything from the minister to the make-up artist.
For something completely unique during your safari at Pondoro, you can join an optional tour with the Black Mambas on Wednesdays and Saturdays. These real-life locals are true modern day heroes and form the basis of this anti-poaching unit founded by Transfrontier Africa and created to protect the Olifants West section of Balule Nature Reserve.
