Ezulwini River Lodge has what we think is one of the most optimal locations within the Balule Game Reserve. It’s situated right on the banks of the Olifants River where a pod of resident hippos can be seen bobbing about in the water during the day and grazing along the banks at night.
This river setting attracts a wide variety of small antelope and big tusker elephants into the area, not to mention a thriving community of birds whose chorus can be heard from the trees surrounding the lodge. There’s no better sound to wake up to in the mornings.
To get a better view of things during your stay, follow the wooden walkway which leads down to the one-of-a-kind viewing tower built around a tree.
Game viewing is the top priority at this lodge and to get you closer to the action, early morning and late afternoon drives depart daily. Led by experienced tracker-guides, this is your VIP access to the reserve’s phenomenal array of animals, including the real stars of the show: The Big 5.
