Founded in 1960, Mohlabetsi is one of the first lodges to be built in Balule Game Reserve. It’s a true safari classic, offering traditional rondavel-style accommodation and hospitality that will warm your heart.
Situated in an elevated position above the reserve, it flaunts sweeping views over the savannah and a busy waterhole, just yonder. This particular setting has mostly remained unchanged since its first few years, aside for a few room add-ons and modern amenities to improve your experience. It’s great as it is and most of its loyal guests will agree.
It’s the type of Balule safari lodge where you’re addressed by name and a hot or cold beverage is always at hand when you most need it. There’s a pool, a bar, a main lounge and a viewing deck - pretty much everything you could need during your stay in the bush.
There will always be time to enjoy these areas at camp (chatting with staff members and meeting other guests) but game drives and bush walks are at the top of the agenda at Mohlabetsi. The morning and evening game drives run like clockwork and are led by experienced tracker guides who know this reserve like the back of their hand. They’ll quickly track down a few of Balule’s most recognisable residents, whom they often introduce by name.
Evenings at Mohlabetsi are well-spent by the campfire in the outdoor boma where hearty meals are served, glasses are topped up and stories are shared.
