If you decide you’d like to travel to Mohlabetsi by road, it is located only 10 kilometres from the town of Hoedspruit which is easily accessed via South Africa’s major routes. If you’re heading there from Johannesburg, the drive takes roughly 6 hours, depending on how many photo stops you want to make along the way.
There is no need to use a 4x4 and a sedan is perfectly fine. Please note that there is a R100 entrance fee per vehicle arriving at York Gate in Balule Nature Reserve.
It’s also easy to get there by air, with daily flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Hoedspruit Airport.
